Narrative

Types of Writing

Narrative Writing can be anything you want.

This is where you get to be creative and invent the characters, settings, etc. Narrative writing is like telling a story, whether it be one you actually experienced, or one that you made up!

How to Write a Narrative!

1) Begin the story by introducing your characters, the setting, and first event (or the background to your first event). This part should hook the reader, so make it interesting!

2) Try writing at least 4 events that happen to your character(s).

3) Tell how the character solved their problem, if they had one.

4) Make sure you include how your character reacts at the end or how they have changed!

5) Use transition words to make your story flow smoothly! (ex. one day, once upon a time, after that, later on, finally, in conclusion, etc)

6) Make an outline of your story before you start (with your characters, what events you want to happen, and how it ends)!

Try it Yourself!

Try writing a paragraph (or more!!) about these prompts, or come up with your very own story!!

  • Write about the best summer you've ever had.

  • Write about your favorite birthday.

  • Write about what you would do in a day if you were a superhero and had any power(s) in the world

  • Write about the best day ever
