Multiplying and Dividing With Decimals

Unit 3

Practice Post!

Try out these practice problems to review Unit 3!

Question 1: What is 0.7 divided by 100?

It is 0.007! This is because when we divide by 100, we move the decimal place to the left two times.

Question 2: What is 108 divided by 0.9?

It is 120! You can perform long division but just make sure to move the decimal of the divisor (0.9) one to the right. You also think about the problem like 1080 divided by 9 (we just multiplied both number by 10). You know that 108 divided by 9 is 12, so 1080 divided by 9 must be 120.

Question 3: What is 6 x 2.4?

It is 14.4! Put 2.4 on top and 6 on the bottom, and just multiply like normal. Because there is one digit place behind the decimal in 2.4, make sure to put the decimal in front of one digit place in the answer, so the answer is not 144, it is 14.4!
