What is a capital letter?

A capital letter is a big letter. They are also known as Uppercase letters.

Example:

  • "A" is a capital letter. "a" is a Lowercase letter

  • "B" = Uppercase, "b" = Lowercase

What are vowels?

Hint: There are 5 vowels

The 5 vowels are: "a", "e", "i", "o", "u" (and sometimes y can be a vowel). Vowels are sounds made with your mouth open.

How many letters of the alphabet are there?

Hint: There are 21 consonants

There are 26 letters of the alphabet! They are: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z

What do sentences begin with?

Hint: Capital letters or Lowercase letters?

A capital letter! The first word of a sentence is ALWAYS capitalized.

Do names have to be capitalized?

Hint: Names are proper nouns

Yes! Names are capitalized because they are proper nouns. For example, Mrs. Jones has to be capitalized because she is a specific person.
