Practice Problems!

Try a few before you take the chapter challenge! Refresh your memory

An angle is 65°. Is this an acute, right, or obtuse angle?

This is an acute angle. Remember, an acute angle is lower than 90°.

Two lines meet at a 90° angle. Are these lines parallel, perpendicular, or intersecting?

Perpendicular. When two lines meet at a 90° angle, the lines are perpendicular.

A triangle has one obtuse angle. Is this an acute, right, or obtuse angle?

This triangle is an obtuse angle because it has one obtuse angle.

Observation Station

Let's observe some more examples!

What kind of angle is this? Why?

This is an obtuse angle because it is higher than 90°.

What kind of angle is this? Why?

This is a line segment because it has two endpoints.

Are these lines parallel, perpendicular, or intersecting?

These lines are intersecting because they meet at a point and do not create a 90° angle (those would be perpendicular lines!).
